Your messages of thanks

Posted by: Kevin B. Gilnack, Campaign Manager

Wow. Members of The Caring Force lived up to the name yesterday, showing a huge outpouring of support to the dedicated human service caregivers who support one-in-ten Massachusetts residents.

All told, yesterday's Valentine's Day Thank a Caregiver campaign generated more than 40 personal messages of thanks to direct care workers from clients/consumers and their family, coworkers, executives and managers, and community supporters. We were also excited to have more than 70 new peition signers to show support for human service providers and their critical work.

If you missed your chance to send a thank you message, don't worry! It is never too late to sign-on (our special Valentine's Day themed petition is still up), and you can go even farther by sharing a story of what human services and The Caring Force means to you.

I've compiled a more lengthy sampling of the many messages submitted yesterday. Check them out:

We give without regard to our own needs, therefore we should take some time to reflect on how wonderful it is to be able to do what we can, knowing that we do not do it for the money.... but for self satisfaction! Hi-Five to you ALL!

Kathy A. shares this message:

I work within an oraganization of amazing people dedicated to providing services and the best quality of life possible to individuals with developemental disabilities. We are a small non-profit group that I know often goes beyond providing basic services to enhance the quality of our individals lives. The workers who support our individuals deserve respect, admiration and acknowledgement of the hard work and sacrfice they put into their work everyday. Choosing to work with individuals with developmental disabilities in the private sector is a noble choice however such workers should not be paid any less than ther counterparts employed by the state.

To all human service workers I say THANK YOU!
