May Day: Celebrate those who care today

Posted by: Kevin B. Gilnack, Campaign Manager

Today for International Worker's Day (May Day), The Caring Force wants to send a special message of thanks to all of the incredible human service workers across Massachusetts.

Whether you work in human services, participate in a program, or have a loved one who does, I’m sure you are familiar with care and empowerment fostered by the 185,000 people who work in the sector.

Human service professionals provide vital supports to one-in-10 of our neighbors – enabling the most vulnerable among us to thrive in the community – while earning an average of only $12/hour.

That’s why today, we want to celebrate the individuals who are the backbone of the Commonwealth’s human services system: its dedicated workforce.

Can you take a minute now to share your story of working in the sector and why it’s important to you – or tell us about how a human service worker has touched your life or tell your story of working in the sector?

We’ll feature a selection of these stories on our blog and Facebook page (are you a fan yet?) – and we might even follow-up with you to see if you want to share your story with legislators or the media.

Your stories are the most powerful way we can educate people about human services and make the case for greater support from our government, the media, and the public.

Please help us highlight the great work done by human service workers and share your story now:
