Let’s make it happen in the House!
Posted by: Kevin B. Gilnack, Campaign Manager
Thanks to your hard work, resilience, and dedication, the Senate included a $20 million Salary Reserve in its budget proposal that will provide a modest salary increase for direct care workers.
That incredible feat has made a tremendous difference for our advocacy. Now we’re making another critical push and we need your help.
Now, three senators and three representatives will come together in a Conference Committee to negotiate the differences between the two chambers’ budgets.
Rep. David Linsky – the champion who (with your help) led the charge in getting nearly 100 of his colleagues to co-sponsor a Salary Reserve amendment during the House budget debates – is continuing to advocate for human service workers.
Rep. Linsky has written a letter to Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo asking him to include the Senate’s Salary Reserve language in the final budget, but he needs your help. We have until Friday to urge as many of his colleagues in the House as possible to co-sign his letter before he sends it.
Can you take one minute right now to ask your representative to sign Rep. Linsky’s letter?
If the Senate’s Salary Reserve language isn’t included in the final budget, human service workers face the prospect of a fifth straight year without a raise. It’s unfair to workers and it’s unfair to the people they serve. Please help make sure this modest, but overdue and greatly deserved raise, is secured.
Time is running out. Please use our easy online form to contact your representative today.

I know the budget process can be a long and frustrating one, but together we’ve made huge gains, and together we can continue working to create a stronger human service system for all of Massachusetts.
Thank you for all that you do.
